Fitting in while standing out
The principal job of a book cover is to signify genre. That is the basic starting point, without which a cover will fail to generate sales.
A good cover lets a reader know instantly, through font choices, colour schemes, and images, the book’s principal genre.
A great cover manages to fit into genre expectations whilst also standing out through utilising superior design, custom typography, and a unique creative twist.

cost
I could buy a cover for a fiver on fivrr, so why pay more?
You could. There are many decent budget cover options. It really depends on what sort of book you’re writing.
Most of those cover artists won’t get to know your book; they will simply make some tweaks to a template. And if you’re writing the sort of long series of romance/crime/epic fantasy that tends to do well on Kindle Unlimited, then those sorts of generic covers will actually work to your benefit. Your main concern should be fitting in, so you may as well save money on your design!
However, if you want to signal that you’ve written something a bit different, you need something a bit more customised.

kindness
A designer knows art. an author knows you.
The magic in a creative partnership happens when you get each other’s work. That’s why it’ so great to have an author designing your book cover.
I know how much time you’ve put into your manuscript; I know how personal it is. Before I work on a cover, I read the first three chapters of your novel to get a sense of the tone and style so that I can translate that into a design that’s just right for your book.
FAQs
Yes, I do. It allows for far greater flexibility, and ensures that your design will be completely unique - no chance of seeing the same model's face on another author's book!
There are also no potential copyright issues; I will give you the original images. With stock photography, you often have to pay a premium if you sell over a certain number of copies of your book.
If you would rather not have AI art included, let me know, and I'll assess if I can do justice to your cover without it. For non-fiction, I rarely use AI; for fantasy, I almost always do.
As many as it takes until you're satisfied.
That depends on how clear a vision I have for your cover. Sometimes, I have one idea that I love, so I'll show you that and hopefully you'll love it too!
Other times, I will send you 2 - 3 versions to see which direction you prefer, and then I'll tweak your favourite until it's just right.
The initial cover designs usually take between 1 and 2 weeks.
Once we've settled on a design, if you've ordered the growth packages, they will take another week.
If you're working to a deadline, let me know and I'll check if I can fit you into my calendar.
Well, perhaps. If you have an image you'd like to use, I'll do my best to work with it... but I'll also give you my honest opinion about whether it will make a commercially viable cover.
I will make minor cover updates (for example, adding 'Book 1' if you end up writing a sequel).
Updates to interior formatting are not included, though, sorry (or I would have to charge a fortune, as I know what it's like - you always find something to change!).
No. I won't edit the text at all, just apply layouts, scene breaks, chapter art, etc.
You do. You are free to use what I produce however you like with no limitations.
When your design is complete, I will happily give you all the files that you can edit yourself or pass along to a different designer to do with as you see fit, at no additional charge. All you have to do is ask for them at the end!
If you're not happy after revisions, I'll give you your money back. Simple.
